Unique to Mānuka honey, methylgyloxal provides a potent antibacterial property.
Unlike most other Mānuka honeys, Farm Traders Mānuka is not blended but instead sourced from a single location in a national park, ensuring a consistent yet unique flavour.
Mānuka honey exhibits a stronger and richer taste than regular honey and is also darker in appearance. Farm Traders Mānuka is free from artificial additives, colours and preservatives.
Our honey is harvested only twice per year, reducing stress on the bees. Better for the bees, means better for you.

Methylglyoxal (MGO) is the active ingredient that gives Mānuka honey its potent antibacterial property. MGO is an ideal rating as it simplifies the effectiveness of Mānuka honey, measured in milligrams of methylglyoxal per 1 kg. At MGO 550+ our Mānuka contains a minimum of 550 mg of methylglyoxal per 1 kg of Mānuka honey and the higher the MGO, the greater the anti-bacterial properties of the Mānuka honey.
All honey contains peroxide activity, however it is Mānuka honey that contains NPA (Non-Peroxide Activity). It is the Non-Peroxide Activity that display’s strong anti-bacterial properties. As such, the NPA rating is a measure of the anti-bacterial performance of Mānuka honey, which is determined using a lab based test. The higher the NPA, the more effective the ability to inhibit bacterial growth.
For your convenience, the MGO and NPA ratings are both included on the label. It is understood that a minimum NPA of 14 or MGO 450+ is considered the minimum rating to be effective against bacterial growth.
